The final result

My colonoscopy was schedued for 8:00 with a 6:30 am arrival time. I was wheeled into the surgery room at about 8:10 and was back in the recovery room laughing with my husband and the nurses by 8:50 am with no memory of the procedure thanks to anesthesia.

The funniest part: Although I’m in my lae 50s, I had to take a pregnancy test because I am not in menopause. It was negative, to nobody’s surprise.

The outcome: My prep was "excellent” with a score of 9/9 for emptiness. I had several polyps which were removed. I’ll have a repeat colonoscopy in three years.

How I felt: tired and a little crampy but no post-op nausea or vomiting.

I am grateful that things worked out the way they did. And I am grateful to others with emetophobia who shared their positive colonoscopy prep experiences. I hope my sharing my experience helps others as well.
